Senior WordPress SDET

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with strong experience in the WordPress ecosystem, test automation, and modern web architectures. This role focuses on ensuring the quality, reliability, and scalability of mission-critical publishing platforms and headless content delivery systems.


The ideal candidate combines deep automation expertise with hands-on WordPress experience and a proactive approach to leveraging AI-powered tools to improve testing efficiency, coverage, and delivery speed.

Key Responsibilities.

  • Own, maintain, and optimize automated testing frameworks, primarily using Cypress and/or Playwright.
  • Validate Headless/Decoupled WordPress architectures, where WordPress serves as a backend CMS for multiple frontend applications and content consumers.
  • Design, implement, and execute automated testing strategies for REST and GraphQL APIs.
  • Verify integrations with third-party services and custom WordPress plugins.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot complex issues across WordPress, APIs, integrations, and frontend systems.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and QA teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Drive a Shift-Left Testing approach by integrating quality practices early in the development process.
  • Leverage AI-powered tools to support test generation, log analysis, edge-case discovery, and test optimization.
  • Contribute to CI/CD quality gates and release readiness processes.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual testing efforts through automation and continuous testing practices.

Required Qualifications.

  • Proven experience testing applications within the WordPress ecosystem.
  • Experience validating:
  1. Custom WordPress plugins
  2. WordPress integrations
  3. Headless or decoupled CMS architectures
  • Strong hands-on experience with Cypress and/or Playwright.
  • Solid experience testing REST and GraphQL APIs.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with development teams and incorporate testing early in the development lifecycle.
  • Experience managing QA artifacts, including test plans, test cases, reports, and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications.

  • Advanced understanding of WordPress Core, Hooks, and custom plugin development.
  • Experience migrating automation frameworks from Cypress to Playwright.
  • Experience using AI tools to improve testing workflows and coverage.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or CircleCI.
  • Experience working with high-traffic publishing, media, content, or newsroom platforms.
